ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) in Shelby, Ohio produces welded and seamless precision tubes in a wide spectrum of carbon and alloy grades and offers one of the most extensive size ranges in the world. Our tubular products serve a variety of markets including automotive, industrial and construction equipment, hydraulic cylinders, agricultural equipment, and mineral mining equipment.
Your role
The Quality Analyst reports to the Quality Support Manager and is responsible for overseeing all quality aspects of both plant operations with special emphasis on the NDT (Non-destructive Testing) areas. Locating and defining any problems in the processing as early as possible and initiating corrective action through communications with operations personnel, management personnel, and the customers. Determining disposition of material (rework, salvage, redraw stock, scrap, approval) throughout plants and at customer’s plants on non-conforming material.
Main tasks for the Quality Analyst
- Monitor operations throughout the plans and correct problems associated with our products and processes as early as possible.
- Monitor and direct the NDT personnel and equipment in final inspection to ensure the production of a quality product.
- Directly responsible for answering ROs (return orders) from customers on non-conforming material.
- Perform destructive test (flats, flares, flanges, expansions) to verify product integrity and specifications.
- Support EPT (Employee Participation Teams) in activities.
- Assist with customer audits, plant tours, orientation, employee training on proper usage of measuring devices, evaluations of the effectiveness of current and proposed NDT testing equipment and visit customers to obtain end use information.
What we are looking for
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly, both in verbal and written communication.
- Strong knowledge of the tube making process preferred.
- Must be self-directed and motivated, with excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, data analytical skills, and commitment to performance management.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, or members of the business community.
- Capability to read, analyse, and comprehend prints and specifications, and to effectively present information to top management and employee groups.
- Possess the physical ability to climb stairs and move between the various pieces of equipment. Able to maneuver heavy tubing in the flat-test press, which also requires two hand operation through palm buttons. Ability to lift up to approximately 40 pounds and possess the ability to hear and speak clearly over the plant radio and intercom systems.
