ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) in Shelby, Ohio produces welded and seamless precision tubes in a wide spectrum of carbon and alloy grades and offers one of the most extensive size ranges in the world. Our tubular products serve a variety of markets including automotive, industrial and construction equipment, hydraulic cylinders, agricultural equipment, and mineral mining equipment. 

Your role

The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Support Manager and is responsible for maintaining and ensuring conformance with the Business Management Plan and its compliance to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949. This position will be the lead auditor for quality system’s internal audits, the administrator of corrective action system, establish and maintain quality assurance procedures, and manage the document control system. The Quality Engineer will also address internal and external customer quality issues, create, and manage Process Flow diagrams and control plans. 

Main tasks of the Quality Engineer

  • Assist in the administration of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Function as lead internal auditor and one of the main contacts for the ISO/IATF audits.
  • Create, evaluate, and audit corrective actions.
  • Make procedural changes to Work Instructions and other ISO/IATF documents.
  • Investigate and take a lead role in correcting problems causing non-conforming product.
  • Manage weekly and monthly reports to provide timely quality performance results to management (balance scorecard KPI goals info). 
  • Provide technical input to team from a quality viewpoint.
  • Team member of the FMEA-Control Plan team.
  • Participate in the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC). 

What we are looking for

  • Associate degree (or higher) in a Technical Field or Business Management combined with related work experience required.
  • Certified training for ISO 9001/IATF 16949
  • Possess a solid understanding of automotive quality practice (AIAG).
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. 
  • Be innovative, self-motivated and have excellent problem identification/definition, planning, interpersonal communication, and group process skills.
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organization and computer skills in using Microsoft Office Software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Must support and exhibit ArcelorMittal’s Core values.
  • Candidate must possess the physical ability to climb stairs and move between the various pieces of equipment. Able to lift up to approximately forty pounds (flat test sample) as well as possess the ability to hear and speak clearly over the plant radio and intercom system.
